USF Health Student Becomes First Recipient of the Westminster Pharmaceuticals Scholarship

Tampa, FL – The USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy has announced that the first recipient of the Westminster Pharmaceuticals Scholarship for the spring 2023 semester is graduate student Yevgeny Habibe. The scholarship, created and sponsored by Westminster Pharmaceuticals, was designed to help one student pursue a college education in pharmacy, representing the best of the future of pharmaceuticals.

Habibe is an international student from Aruba, where he lived and attended school up until age 19, when he decided to head to the United States for a college education. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Habibe chose to pursue a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology degree from USF Health.

In the midst of his master’s education, Habibe most enjoys the practical lab skills and entrepreneurial courses of the program, giving insight into his future hopes and goals after obtaining the degree. He also works as a graduate research assistant in the USF Health Department of Internal Medicine lab, where he hopes to gain further practical skills and lab experience. In the same way, he’s also looking forward to the required end-of-program internship to get real-world experience under his belt.

After graduating, Habibe hopes to work in a pharmaceutical lab before starting his own pharmaceutical nanotechnology company to find innovative ways to harness nanoscale materials that will advance medicine further.

“The Westminster Pharmaceuticals Scholarship helped me lighten the financial burden of pursuing an MS degree,” says Habibe. “Equally important, the scholarship served as an inspiration for me to continue pursuing excellence and to take advantage of the resources at USF while I am a student here.”

Westminster Pharmaceuticals values seeing the impact the Westminster Pharmaceuticals Scholarship has made thus far and looks forward to connecting more with Habibe and other scholarship recipients throughout the years.

“Yevgeny Habibe is exactly the type of student this scholarship is meant for – someone with a drive to succeed, who values high-quality education and holds impressive career goals in the pharmaceutical field. I’m so glad to hear how our scholarship has helped him achieve his master’s degree education,” says Louis Sanchez, Westminster Pharmaceuticals CEO.

USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy students interested in applying for the Westminster Pharmaceuticals Scholarship can apply through the scholarships section of the USF student portal.
